The Sandhills Woman’s Exchange is a non-profit organization belonging to a National Federation. It is only one of twenty such Exchanges left in operation in the U.S. The 1810 log cabin has a mission “to help others help themselves.” Today, the SWE has about 80 artisans who sell their local craft items in the gift shop. Volunteers serve as waitresses in the dining room and as cashiers. Due to limitations on heat/air conditioning, the cabin is open from Ground Hog Day in February to the end of May; then closes for the summer; reopens in early September until mid-December closing for the holidays.
